Southport

Southport is one of the most beautiful and charming small towns in North Carolina.  During warm weather, visitors flock to Southport’s picturesque tree-lined streets to explore its many restaurants, shops, marina, yacht basin and historic attractions.

Hundreds of years ago, pirates and explorers visited the area.  Today, it’s convenient location, where the Atlantic Ocean, Intracoastal Waterway, and Cape Fear River meet, is still very popular with mariners.

Normally, the winter months are a pretty slow time in the real estate business.  While the weather has been cold outside this year, the real estate market has been getting hotter and hotter.

Just one trip to Southport North Carolina is all it takes to appreciate the beauty of the Cape Fear region. We’re on the southeast coast of North Carolina, on the coast of Brunswick Islands. Live the coastal life every day of the year when you purchase Southport real estate. You’ll have access to sandy beaches, marsh land, and beautiful lighthouses with Southport and Oak Island homes that make for a great atmosphere to work, live and play on the coast.

An ideal community environment for me would be one where the population spans all age groups, and recreation for all those age groups creates interaction, sharing and caring communities.  To me it always seems like beach communities offer what I enjoy, surf, sand, beach and good food.  Jacksonville NC in Onslow County is one of those communities.  Also Sneeds Ferry provides quiet living in an area that’s close to the nightlife and amenities to make it a community consideration.

Boiling Spring Lakes, more affectionately known to locals as “BSL,” derives its name from a natural boiling spring that pumps out an astonishing 43 million gallons of water each day. In addition to the “Big Lake,” a 150 acre lake with 10 miles of shoreline, the city also boasts an array of 50 other natural and man-made lakes. Boiling Spring Lakes was originally developed in 1961 by Reeves Telecom and encompasses over 14,000 acres of land. Boiling Spring Lakes features wooded Homesites, waterfront Homesites and golf course Homesites.

St James is a new town, incorporated in 1999, along the southeast coast of North Carolina – just a few miles from the old fishing village of Southport, NC and about 30 miles south of Wilmington, NC. It is a residential town, with  four and a half golf courses, many tennis courts, swimming pools, full service marina and beach club along the Oak Island sea shore. Southport is a coastal North Carolina city with a very interesting history attached to it. It was one of the first cities to celebrate our independence day, and it is thus known as the 4th of July capital of North Carolina. People gathered at Fort Johnson and gave a 13 gun salute to the 13 states. It was here that fireworks were used for the time to celebrate the 4th of July. Southport is major attraction for many history buffs. Its unique location (convergence of the Intracoastal Waterway and the Cape Fear River) gives it a prime attraction for beach lovers too. Southport real estate offers various waterfront properties at an affordable price. Topsail island real estate also offers similar properties and houses for you to consider.

Tucked away just below Wilmington and the mouth of the Cape Fear River and just 45 minutes or so above the South Carolina state line you’ll find Southport.  Southport reflects southern charm, but is close enough to Wilmington with the colleges, shopping, dining and nightlife.  In addition, Myrtle Beach is about 65 miles south.

The Oak Island, Caswell Beach and Southport area is famous for pier fishing, surf fishing, full-service marina and charter fishing boats.  Traffic in Southport is light considering there are only about 2,600 year-round residents. Of course during the summer traffic increases all over the Cape Fear region as tourists come to visit the Coastal Carolina’s beaches and towns.

Just before you get to town there are the conveniences of the super stores so you aren’t ”in the woods” entirely. If you are searching for property on NC coasts, Southport offers some great properties and prices on both new and existing homes.

Located two miles from historic Southport real estate, Bald Head Island features 12,000 acres of beach, marshland and forest preserves.  Accessible only by ferry through the Cape Fear River, you are required to leave your car behind and enjoy the relaxing, down-to-earth, nature-filled island community.  Fishing, sailing, kayaking, hiking, golf and tennis are just a few recreational activies this island has to offer.  Walk miles of trails in the maritime forest or sit back, relax and enjoy the semitropical envrionment as you canoe the serpentine tidal creek.  Bald Head Island real estate features every island setting a person could desire.

The county seat of Brunswick County, the town of Bolivia is home to less than 150 residents with 91% of Bolivia NC real estate owner occupied.  With three golf courses in the area, the town of Bolivia is prime for adults and retirees.  Despite the small population, Bolivia is not an isolated area. In Bolivia’s neighboring city, Southport, boasting seven more golf courses to choose from.  Although a higher popluation than Bolivia, Southport is still a small town as it is home to less than 2,500 residents. Like Bolivia, regardless of the population of residents the area still flourishes and is constantly busy with its neighboring cities in the Wilmington metropolitan area.  Southport real estate features waterfront and waterview homes, as it is located at the entrance of the Cape Fear River.
